There are countless employment laws, regulations, and legal principles that are central to school district and higher education management. We provide counsel and advocacy as attorneys of record for our clients in all types of employment litigation.
Our attorneys have extensive experience with internal dispute resolution procedures often used by public school districts and technical colleges, such as arbitration and grievances that have been advanced under statutory grievance procedures. Our attorneys also defend claims of discrimination, wage and hour claims, unemployment disputes, wrongful discharge, and other cases that are brought against public education clients.
We practice regularly before the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development in its Equal Rights Division, Unemployment Insurance Division, Workers Compensation Division, and Bureau of Labor Standards. We also represent our clients before the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. We appear in court on behalf of clients as well.
We bring our understanding of school districts and technical colleges to bear in all forms of litigation. Our understanding of school and higher education culture, and our familiarity with applicable legal authority give our team keen insights into how to approach cases on our clients’ behalf. We can also keep our clients from being involved in litigation and make certain that they are difficult targets to hit through careful policy development and disciplined management.
Our approach unifies training, policy, handbook, contract, and applicable law to prevent challenges to our clients’ employment decisions, and to make certain that any challenge will be more than difficult to advance.
